Things to see | Things to do

There's so many things to see here in Ilfracombe. Why not start at the Ilfracombe Aquarium - an award winning, all-weather fun, educational attraction located at the Old Lifeboat House on the Pier at the end of the Quay. Here you can also sit, relax and enjoy refreshements at the Pier cafe or make use of the indoor Rocket House rest room also displaying local art.

Visit the famous historic Tunnels Beaches, a truly unique attraction with its network of handcarved tunnels leading to sheltered beaches and Victorian bathing pool.  Read extensive history information throughout the site – including hilarious guides to Victorian etiquette for boys, girls and for when boating with ladies! Plus there's great fun for little ones at The Play Hut next door.

Visit Ilfracombe Museum situated next to The Landmark Theatre on Ilfracombe's seafront. A fascinating place to visit come rain or shine with it's unique collection of memorabilia. At the Emmanuel Church opposite the museum, Ilfracombe Art Society hold regular art exhibitions. On the High Street you will find the award winning chocolate museum at Walker's Chocolate Emporium with its cafe, museum and shop. In fact, there's an entire shopping directory to find exactly what you're looking for.

Take a trip out on the Ilfracombe Princess to see the splendour of the coast from the sea and experience our wildlife out in the water.

Visit the Larkstone Cafe and Leisure Park where the whole family can spend a day playing lawn games such as Bowls, Croquet, Tennis and Putting, or 9 holes of Golf on the adjacent Pitch and Putt course with its breathtaking views of the Harbour and Seafront, and enjoy a spot of lunch or a cream tea!

Larkstone is situated at the base of Hillsborough Nature reserve, a walk over which will provide you with the most amazing views of Ilfracombe and the lovely harbour. Walk over the hill to Hele Bay with its beautiful cove and follow the signs for The Old Cornmill, a working cornmill which you can explore and then enjoy afternoon tea at their tea room.

Come and take a guided tour of Chambercombe Manor an 11th century manor house on the outskirts of Ilfracombe, which is gaining a reputation as one of the most haunted houses in Britain. There are over 4 acres of lovely gardens, water features and woodland walks for you to enjoy, and the Lady Jane tea rooms offer scrumptious cream teas and refreshments.

There are also a number of theme parks close to Ilfracombe with Watermouth Castle & Family Theme Park, Combe Martin Dinosaur & Wildlife Park, The Big Sheep at Bideford and The Milky Way near Clovelly to name but a few.
